I am not in the least interested in cars. However, while on my Sunday ride (a 44 mile bike ride) I stumbled upon a car show at La Jolla Cove that penetrated my apathy and managed to impress.
Notice those are all Fords. Fords! I would have never guessed. And last, but not least, the Volkswagen.
San Diego is such a wonderful place to live. I’ve been biking a lot more recently because I’m training for a century bike race. Last week I cycled 93 miles. My long ride was 33 miles. I left from my home in Mission Hills, into Old Town, down the San Diego River to the coast and went North through Mission Beach, Pacific Beach, then La Jolla and La Jolla Shores and into Torrey Pines and then back.
My long rides are Sunday morning. This week will be a 40+ mile ride. Let me know if you’re interested in joining me. This week I’m heading to Cabrillo.
Ashby (my 3.5 year old daughter) is amazing. Of course, if you read my blog, you already know this. One aspiration I have for my daughter is that she grow up with compassion for her fellow *man. After some thought, I’ve determined one way to achieve this is by spending time with her engaged in community work.
To this end, Ashby and I will be attending the September 5th La Jolla Shores beach cleanup that is organized by the Surfrider Foundation.
Participants should meet by the main lifeguard tower. The cleanup takes place from 9am until 11am.
All volunteers are welcome to participate and must sign a liability waiver, but volunteers under 18 MUST have a parent or guardian sign the waiver before the minor can participate. (Please note the NEW waiver as of August 2009)
