San Diego has a plethora of Farmers Markets. It’s really wonderful. I usually go to the Hillcrest Farmers Market on Sundays, which is open between 9am and 2pm (rain or shine). This market is currently voted the best Farmers Market in San Diego. It really is amazing and has an impressive diversity of vendors. However, the last two weekends I’ve visited the Little Italy Farmers Market. Today the whole family went along with me. While the Hillcrest Market is located at the DMV the Little Italy market is in a much more scenic and beautiful location. The latter isn’t as large and isn’t as diverse, but it’s a lot easier to park and the location is really scenic. The Little Italy market is open on Saturdays between 9am and 1:30pm. As such you could make both markets in the same weekend.
I’ve been told by several parents the largest and best Farmers Market is in Ocean Beach. This is open on Wednesday from 4pm-7pm (4pm-8pm in summer). I haven’t been, but I hear it’s great for kids because it has clowns, balloon animals, etc….
