Okay, let’s take 70 Web 2.0 developers, put them all in a room for 48 hours, and have them make a startup. Yup, no potential problems here. Business as usual for the Ajaxified circlejerk. – uncov / VoSnap: An Overnight Delivery Of Fail (vosnap)
“Just apologize to the American people and to the families of the troops for not doing your job four years ago. We wouldn’t be in this war if you had done your job. Come on. Just admit it. Just apologize to the American people.”
The corrupting effects of corporations on the American political system, the media, and society is becoming more and more evident.
Demand an apology from CNN for Dr. Sanjay Gupta’s biased report on ‘SiCKO’ and for helping the Bush administration lie us into a pointless war.
Feel free to use this letter by copy/pasting it:
I demand an apology and a correction of the record for the biased and ridiculous report provided by Dr. Sanjay Gupta regarding Moore’s movie “Sicko”. Moreover, I demand an apology for the concerted effort to marginalize people like Moore for professing the truth; specifically as Blitzer did regarding 9/11 and the war in Iraq. If CNN refuses this and continues to intentionally and willfully mislead the American people I will boycott CNN and its sponsors.
Deki Wiki just broke the top 100 projects at SourceForge.net! Weβre #95 out of 152,449 projects. Weβre not even a year old! Holy crap! This is a small thing, but it is validating and is evidence of our growing momentum. Ok, and quite frankly I think it kicks ass. I sent Ethan Galstad an email, who is the author of Nagios and ranked #93, to tell him we're goooona geeet hiiim! π In case you're wondering SourceForge.net bases it's project rank on downloads, site traffic, and various other factors. Thanks to all the Gardeners who are helping to spread the word.
I was checking our download stats today, which btw continues to see explosive growth, and I was really pleased to see a new single day record. I’m not certain what the final count will be, but we’ve already passed our previous best day (not counting when we launched almost a year ago). I was also very amused to discover an advertisement for ADHD on our stats page. LOL. Is this for me personally? Is Google saying something about MindTouch? Our customers? Maybe our Gardeners? Too funny.
Last week I was flying back from Boston and I bumped into a fellow named Marcelo Tosatti. He stood out with his “Free as in Freedom” shirt as I suppose I did with my “Free Knowledge” shirt. We struck up a conversation and as it turned out Marcelo was flying to LA to talk to Marvell about problems they’re having at RedHat with the wireless drivers for the OLPC project. In case you’re not familiar with this it’s “One Laptop Per Child” or “$100 Laptop” project for developing countries. Very cool project. Anyway, I snapped some photos one of the units Marcelo had with him.
The new Simpsons’ Movie website has an avatar creator. Kind of neat. The hair for my avatar is spot on. I’m not sure how accurate the rest is. Tara says my eyes need to be bigger and I need to be in shorts (I very very rarely wear pants); alas, shorts were not available in the avatar creator. π Anyway, I think it’s neat. Although, the site’s games are pretty lame it’s cool to visit Moe’s in person.
This week’s tech talk covers SODA, the name of our architecture. SODA provides a uniquely scalable, simple, and extensible pattern for building applications.
