Soccer Sucks!

www.SoccerSucks.org

A large part of the mission Soccersucks.org is to cure soccer fans from their disease. We provide informative links on how to wean oneself from soccer. We offer soccer fans access to real sports, so they may discover athleticism and competition.

I can’t say I am particularly emotional about soccer. However, the Soccer hair section is quite amusing. This site begs the question: where is the NASCARsucks website? This is a site I would find highly appealling.

Good News: A Cure for Cancer

Wired
Bad News:

Researchers at the University of California at Los Angeles have tweaked HIV to create a gene therapy that attacks cancer tumors in mice.

The research is a step forward for the beleaguered field of gene therapy, which has enjoyed isolated successes and suffered repeated setbacks over the past 20 years. But tinkering and fine tuning will be the key to a successful gene therapy, UCLA researchers believe. They published their study in the Feb. 13 issue of Nature Medicine.

Interesting however. This is only the first experiment, give it some time.

Talon News

Of course, this is all old news, but I was so amused by this “news” outlet. Talon News, a sister website of GOPUSA.com, founded by Texas Republican Bobby Eberle, who is the CEO of both. Talon News’ stated mission is: “Spread the conservative message throughout American.” However, I noticed: “description” content=”Talon News is your source for unbiased news coverage and no-spin reporting. If you want the facts without all the slant, Talon News is the place to go for political, national, and international news.” is their site description. This seems rather oxymoronic. How can this be “news?” Of course, Talon News has made news of late with the Jeff Gannon (or whatever his name is) incident in which a pretend reporter intentionally lobbed softballs and GBW.

Finally, it is interesting to note (found here):

GOPUSA.com, a Web site run by Bobby Eberle, a Houston engineer with no previous journalism experience, scored an interview with President Bush’s top political adviser, Karl Rove.

Mr. Eberle is the CEO of GOPUSA.com and Talon News, Jeff Gannon’s employer. He regularly writes on GOPUSA.com under the byline:

By Bobby Eberle
Talon News

So GOPUSA.com gets access to Rove. Interesting. Gannon/Talon also get access to CIA documents that expose undercover CIA operative Valerie Plame. Very Interesting. Is there a link? Only the Justice Department investigation knows. Wonder what’s holding up that prosecution?

These folks are hilarious.

Announcing at LinuxWorld.

Mapping Google…

It may not be rigorous, but I agree: kudos. I’ll bet there are a whole lot of JavaScripters out there wetting themselves.

as simple as possible, but no simpler

I also think it bears noting that Google is pulling out all the stops to build rich web apps, no matter how weirdly they have to hack the browser to make them go. And I strongly believe that this is a trend that is here to stay — XHTML Strict/CSS/etc be damned. At the end of the day, what really matters to users is compelling apps that let them get their work done quickly.

Imagine now if SVG [1], [2]was used! That would be heavenly. Will we ever see the day?

North Korea claims nuclear weapons

CNN.com

Citing what it calls U.S. threats to topple its political system, North Korea said Thursday it is dropping out of six-party nuclear talks and will “bolster its nuclear weapons arsenal,” North Korea’s official news agency KCNA reported.

What a surprise. Now what did Iran say about their nuclear program a day or so ago:

Iran said Wednesday it will never scrap its controversial nuclear program and talks with Europeans were intended to protect Iran’s nuclear achievements, not abandon them.

What will the U.S. do? Invade? Perhaps we could run a children’s crusade against both countries.
